Team India had to face defeat by 28 runs at the hands of England in the 1st Test match at Hyderabad. England started the series with a memorable win on Indian soil. But Indian team bounced back in 2nd Test and made sure they don’t get into deep trouble going forward in the series. Now India and England are 1-1 Level up in the series and still 3 matches to go.
Shubhman Gill’s tremendous innings of 104 runs in the second innings for India took the team in a commandable position to win the match as India took the lead of 399 runs, after which Indian bowlers took on the England batting line up and bowled out England for 292 runs and India won by 106 runs.
Ashwin took the most wickets among all the bowlers. Only Zak Crawly scored 73 runs and fought from England team while no other batsmen were even able to touch 50 runs mark.
On the fourth day of the match, England started its second innings from 67-1 runs and got all out for 292 runs in chasing the massive 399 runs. The target of 399 was going to be difficult in India as the ball starts to turn much more on day 3 than the previous 2 days. But there was hope that the England batsmen would achieve this target with their positive and Bazball approach and ultimately got bowled out for 292 runs.
The turning point of match was when Shreyas Iyyer run out Ben Stokes for 11 runs on the bowling of Ashwin.
Before the wicket of Ben Stokes England still had a hope as everyone knows that Ben Stokes had faced same situation and chased the target in famous Ashes Series in England in 2021 against Australia and won England the Test match.
But the brilliant performance by Shreyas Iyyer in the field made sure that they won’t have to go through same what Australia went in 2021 Ashes Series and broked team England’s all hopes to win this match.
After the wicket of Ben Stokes everyone thought that India would wrap up the match quickly, but Ben Foakes and Tom Hartley made sure this won’t happen. They both together made 50+ Partnership and kept of England alive in this Test match. But ultimately they both got out and India won the match by 106 runs.
For Team India, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a brilliant double hundred in 1st innings which gave India a good score to restrict England team from surpassing the 1st innings lead.
The debutant Shoaib Bashir took 4 wickets in teh match and 3 wickets of Rohit Sharma, Axar Patel and Mukesh Kumar in 1st innings in his Debut Test match conceeding 138 runs in his 38 overs. James Anderson and Rehan Ahmed also took 3 wickets and make sure that team India don’t take a much higher lead.
Shoaib Bashir increased India’s problems by taking the wicket of Rohit for just 14 runs. This was team India’s great comeback considering their previous loss in 1st Test match in Hyderabad.
On a positive note India won it’s 2nd Test match but there are still concerns with Indian batting as the Captain and the star batsmen Rohit Sharma is struggling to convert his start into a big score, as well as other batsmen are also struggling to score big.Even Shubhman Gill got too many low scores before hitting a century in 2nd innings.
Hope he and Yashasvi Jaiswal takes their form in the next Test as well as India would be expecting Virat Kohli back in the squad after missing first 2 Test matches as the star couple Virat and Anushka are expecting their second child.
